Well the big tent
show should have been a huge success if only for for the great weather
all week. I of course don't know how the venders did with sales. But if
they didn't do good it wasn't because of the crowds or weather witch were
all great. The traffic was again as in years past backed up getting to
the big tent so that means they had good head count.
So me thinks it
was a good week for all and now on Monday after a perfect week it changed
to light rain today.
La Posa West long
term visitor area and MANY of the RV rigs have left. This is a "We came
and now we are now leaving event". I trust they got the T-Shirt and are
Happy Campers and are on their next adventure.
If you are just
now heading to Q do come as many venders will stay so shopping will
still be good. Instead of several venders selling the same things now only
a few will be left selling what you are looking for.
Will update with
pictures soon.

Our little space in the
huge mass of RVs in the BLM
We have been having many great campfires
as the weather has been just like last year... perfect for this time of
year. By early next week we are talking in the upper 70s to low 80s. But
today like it can be it was a little windy here with the dust blowing.
Not a perfect day but still temps at over 70.
Now I would be remorse if I didn't include
a shot inside the big tent show.
Next to the post office is a vendor area
where they showcase mostly antiques as in junk. But one place had metal
art work. I just loved the saguaro cactus peices.
Since we are up at 4K feet at our winter
vacation place near Benson, AZ a little high up for these in real life,
may want to add a few to be placed on our deck. I think the green
ones look great. May wait to make an offer after the crowds leave to get
a better deal.

Well I have changed my story... They have
shown up... just in time for the big show.
The weather is going to be great... in
the upper 70s.
This Woodstock for
RVers is going to be fun again this year.

My
post on rv.net forum
OK just a few days before the Big Tent
Show opens on Jan 17 (updated) AND the BLM and RV parks are very very shy
of RVers. Not just shy but mostly empty as in vast open spaces where in
past years would be wall to wall with RVs. So if you are thnking about
coming to Q for the shows come on over as this place is empty. The venders
are here big time but no customers. Even Rice Ranch across form the tent
show is mostly empty.
Now if the RVs pull in for the show week
they can to do it now as there is no backup at the BLM entrance stations.
Now we wish the venders well but this
is much different from years past.
We hve come to Q for many years and the
talk of the town is always are they going to come back again this year.
In the past they always have but this
is very much different as it is Wednesday and the show opens on Saturday.
Guess we can go to the show on opening
day or the next day without a parking problem.
Even in the past we couild find a parking
site right at the tent in the afternoon after a day or so from opening
day when people got tired and left for the day. Go about 2-3 pm and parking
on site is open.
Anyway it's fun to be in Quartzsite this
time of year as we come here not so much for the venders and shows but
for the Quartzsite Gem
and Mineral Club.

We
are back in Quartzsite for January.
Current update on
Q: The venders are here in full force. Desert Gardens Rock Show grounds
are overflowing. Much bigger than in past years. Now saying that
the Big Tent Show opens in five days and as anyone here can see the winter
visitors are just not here in any numbers YET. The stores are not busy
and the traffic is non existant. Oh... like they say they will show mid
week. in years pst they would have filled this place last month. We shall
see. The weather has been the best anywhere in the country. If they were
heading south after New Years they should have been here by now.
Camped in La Posa
West. Our location in http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=98
The sign for Propane
and dump just doesn't stand there it moves around to get your attention
as you see in many places with a real human jumping up and down to get
your attention. Not in Q it's a dummy and a electric motor. Automation
has even come to the desert.
We just love our new 2015 Honda Fit.
Big room in a small car. That's why they named it FIT. Terry put in $13
dollars worth of gas to drive it from Benson AZ to Quartzsite.
40-50 miles per gallon. It only has a 10 gallon tank and for good reason
it can go well over 400 miles on a tank. That's less than two number
1 Burger King meals. For the price of lunch we can drive this over
400 miles. Amazing. And it has all the bells and whittles. This is
one fancy top of the line car. All new for 2015.
Something new (I will get a better pic
later) but they now offer free rides in the bycycle built for riders around
Tyson Wells. Bet he takes tips.
This place advertised Deep Fried Tenderloin's.
We asked what they looked like as we were from Iowa the home of these things.
She said she had a sister in Iowa and hoped they were up to our standards.
Let me put it this way they tried and
they weren't too bad but not like Iowa ones. She said to let her know how
they were so they could improve them. When we were done they were busy
so didn't offer my critique. Itt would have been it need to be much
thinner. But I wouild have it again. We will be going back for their
Gyros.
Next up is Beer Belly's Adult Day
Care. It's bigger and better and that's where people were stooping. They
do have a hit. It right on the walk way to the Big
Tent Show which is Jan 17th thru 25th, 2015 - Hours: 9 AM to
5 PM
They have been here for a couple of years
now and moved to a better location.
Never can tell what you'll see in Quartzsite.
Now
for what we left.
Not my idea of News
Years Day in Arizona. at our place near Benson AZ at 4000 ft.
But should be in
the 70's by Tuesday. Gunna hook up the 5th wheel and head to Quartzsite
for a month of camping in the desert.
No
we didn't miss December.
I know I have in years past have been
a "Bah Humbug" kind of person... Yes I even was an office hit by hanging
Santa at my office desk.. See the Santa below. Don't think that would be
PC now, but was fun back then.
I grew up going to a church in my youth.
But have evolved to thank we should think for ourselves, and not accept
the rrligion as gospel. As a holiday tridation we decided to go for broke
and set up a tree. I just wanted to relive past times. BTW it looks good.
The bubble lights were a tridaition from my childhold. So got some and
it just makes the tree. BTW as I type we are watching the college football
championships while Terry is serving his homemade special pizza.
Got the tree from Walmart for $40 and
at 6 1/2 ft it turned out great. In ther store I put in the cart adn when
Terry came by I siad this is a done deal. Later Terry put it together under
protest but after it was up he kind of liked it. It gave a nice feeling
to the living room. And of course with the hot tub just out the door on
the deck we had a very fine time over the holidays. Just today 01/10 got
an email for the electric bill... with cold temps (did I say snow) and
heating the hot tub and tree lights and the electric oven cooking all those
great meals. A little more than expected but not to worry it's only
money. Should be cheaper to be in Quartzsite this time of year. And
a lot more fun to be had by all. As Terry loves spending time going to
the Q Gem and Mineral Club.
Our Christmas Ham was tasty and good for
many leftovers.
For News Years Day I talked Terry into
doing a prime rib. He was all worried tht it would be hard to do
without spoiling it.
NOT so we got a temp sencor and it turned
out great. And like the ham... several meals were had from it.
I plan on reporting more from Q as things
kick up in January.
