Marches On When You're Having Fun
My last post was
way back when... as we returned to our seasonal place near Benson, AZ.
We have been gone for almost 9 months. With going to Quartzsite after our
travels in the northwest last summer and then Terry getting very ill with
appendicitis complications. Got to find out alot about Havasu City as that
is where they had to take him. The Parker hospital was not equipped to
handle his condition.
But that was then
and this is now. He is fine and just got his annual wellness visit.
Next thing for him is a colonoscopy scheduled for early April. One of those
things we should not put off and which doesn't hurt one little bit. But
you knew that didn't you.
As for me I've got
a follow up with a Nephyrology Dr. at the end of April. My kidney function
readings have not changed in three years... staying about the same but
not in the normal range. So time to get an assessment of the drugs I take
for diabetes and a-fib.
BTW if you were
counting I have only had about 3 to 4 a-fib events in 10 months so have
reduced my meds for that. Still take a lower dose of Xarelto (blood thinner)
just in case. It's easier to take than warfarin (rat poison) and don't
need to test the blood levels with this. Not cheap but my Ins covers it
Speqaking of Health
Insurance my retired from company is moving all its Medicare retirees from
their private secondary coverage to Medicare Medigap and Part D drug plans.
They will pay $214 towards the premiums each month. I will have 100%
health coverage (Medigap Plan F) and (part D) much lower out of pocket
drug costs. Terry this year has... non medicare CDHP plan (premium $150
a month) where the company pays first $1000 we pay next $500 and after
that it's 80/20 split for up to another $500 from us. Then all 100% covered.
So the bottom line is we will save hundreds each month. Who would think
things would get better.
Back on the seasonal
house front. It has been wonderful weather in AZ and now that
we are back at what we call our vacation from the road, house, have been
working to get the roses cleaned up with new mulch and fed. Looking good.
The view from the rear deck. In the background
you can see the moive set where hundreds of commercials and movies have
been shot. Including Tombstone. All that is state land so will never be
Now for the great view looking over our
new hot tub which we use most every night.
It's a Tuff
Spas All molded one peice tub except for the access panels
on the sides.
We sold our old blow
up hot tub... remember what fun we had in Quartzsite with that.
We were the hit
of the BLM back then.
We even bought a portable propane fired
water heater to heat the tub water. We were off the power grid boondocking.
Also see the water pump to circulate the water. That kept us and our neighbors
entertained. We tried to rig up a solar heater but that was a flop.
Terry liked the blow up unit below back
then just as much as he does the fancy new one we have now.
Craigslist came through and we sold the
blow up one to people in St. David, AZ
May 2011 I had the brainy idea of setting
up the rear portion of the gar/shop as a spa exercise area. So that's where
the blow up tub went. Now the treadmill is in the master bedroom (just
try moving one of those suckers) and isn't being used anymore than it did
The most exercise we get with it is
when we move it... Thats got to change...
Later out with the hot tub and in with
Now I still have a 18' X 48" above ground
pool and saltwater clorinator that I just had to have. Set up in the gar/shop.
Wanted to call it my indoor/outdoor pool. Looking out the rear gar/shop
door. It was was fun but it didn't get any sun to heat it up so we didn't
use it much. It's on craigslist
and get it.
Got to stop... time to go for a soak in
the new hot tub.
